Importing & exporting advice

Our Trade Services specialists can offer you personal guidance and help on all aspects of export and import transactions. We offer a large number of options enabling you to trade securely internationally, depending on the requirements of your business.

These are the principal options:

  • Documentary Letter of Credit
We can issue a Letter of Credit for importers or pass on a Letter of Credit for exporters. This guarantees settlement on the condition that key documents are presented and comply with the terms of the Letter of Credit. These documents usually include the invoice, packing list and shipping documents

  • Documentary Collections/Bills of Exchange
Customers tend to use this option when they have an established relationship with a company abroad. Unlike Letters of Credit, they do not guarantee payment. This means that they cost less and take less time to set up. Again, we can handle these for importers and exporters

  • Issuing of Bonds/Guarantees
We can arrange to have Bonds/Guarantees issued on your behalf. They are commonly used when making bids and tenders, and for commitments relating to performance. In the majority of situations, Bonds/Guarantees are issued under the local laws and customs relevant to the country, through a correspondent bank domiciled in the country under whose laws the Bond/Guarantee is being issued
