Update: Tax Relief at Source (TRS) 2012

From 1st January 2012 the rate of mortgage interest relief for first time buyers who took out their first mortgage between the years 2004 to 2008 increases to 30% until 2017. If you took out a loan outside of these dates the existing rules remain unchanged.

The Office of the Revenue Commissioners (“Revenue”) and Bank of Scotland plc (“BOS”) will make the necessary administrative changes, this will take a period of time to implement but eligible BoS mortgage customers will be granted the full mortgage relief due from June 2012. TRS for 2012 will be calculated on a pro rata basis.

Customers can obtain further details on the existing TRS rates, rules and ceilings on the Revenue website: www.revenue.ie or by phoning the Revenue TRS Helpline Ph: 1890 46 36 260.
