Credit Cards
If you were unable to repay the balance in full or switch to another provider by the 18th June 2010 and you were up to date with repayments of or no more that one monthly payment in arrears, your credit card agreement was amended to provide for an alternative credit card repayment arrangement. You will have received a letter explaining this arrangement. Since the 18th June 2010 all credit cards have automatically been deactivated and you are no longer able to use your credit card to conduct any further transactions in point of sale outlets, ATM machines or on-line. Your credit card has been blocked and your credit limit has been removed.
If transactions that you have made are posted to your account after 18th June 2010, they will be added to any outstanding balance on your account. Your credit card agreement with us will remain in place until all amounts owing to us have been repaid.
You may have used your credit card to pay for ongoing services e.g. toll charges, TV subscriptions, utility bills etc. These payments have since 18th June 2010 been returned unpaid and will continue to be returned unpaid. You must now make new arrangements to pay for these services.

Government Stamp Duty Charges
We are obliged under Irish law to collect €30 Irish Government Stamp Duty on all cards in the financial year including from all customers on closure of their accounts. On the 1st April 2010, you paid €30 GSD for the year 2009/10. As your account remained open after this date, your account was debited with €30 GSD due for the year ending 1st April 2011. No further GSD will be collected from your credit card account. If you open a new credit card account with another provider between 2nd April 2010 and 1st April 2011, please call us to request a GSD waiver letter which you can give to your new credit card provider to avoid paying GSD on your new credit card in April 2011. Please note that this waver only applies if you open a credit card with an alternative provider on closure of your credit card account. If you have a second credit card account, you will be liable for two payments.
From the 1st January 2011 your Halifax Credit Card Agreement will be with Bank of Scotland plc. Your Credit Card Agreement will continue under the current terms and conditions and all outstanding amounts have been repaid or you decide to repay it early.
