Enterprise Finance Guarantee

Great business idea but no security to borrow against or need to free up overdraft facilities?

Enterprise Finance Guarantee (EFG) enables small businesses with a workable business proposition but lacking security to borrow from approved lenders.

Maybe you need a cash injection to get your business off the ground. Perhaps you're ready to take things to the next level. Maybe you'd like to pay off an existing Bank of Scotland business overdraft but want to keep the facility in place to ensure you have working capital. Perhaps it's time to expand operations into other markets. Or it could be that it's time to invest in new equipment or premises.

In many of the above cases, traditional finance - such as business loans - may be hard to secure, especially if you're a newer company or can't offer normal security.

Talk to us about your plans and needs and we'll agree an interest rate and advise you if any security is needed. You will pay an arrangement fee, as well as interest and a Government premium of 2% per year on the outstanding balance of your loan.

Any property given as security, which may include your home, may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage or other debts secured on it.

All lending is subject to a satisfactory credit assessment and we will need your permission to carry out a credit check on you and your business. You should not apply for an amount that you cannot comfortably afford to repay now and in the future to avoid the possibility of legal action.
